The MFG Group continues its senior executive recruitment programme with the announcement that Gary Richardson has joined the business as National Account Manager – UK. Gary is the latest senior key appointment as MFG Group continues its global expansion in 2019.
Reporting directly to Head of Sales & Performance Pita Marroni, Gary will be directly responsible for maintaining the existing UK business and growing the MFG Group’s presence in its highly important home market.
Having initially qualified in Mechanical Engineering with the Ministry of Defence Gary began his automotive career in 1985 as a Business Manager within the VAG Group. After successful periods in a variety of management roles at Ford, Rover and BMW dealers across the UK, Gary joined BMW UK in 2002. Following a highly successful period developing and delivering product, communications and events training both in the UK and abroad Gary moved into the BMW UK Customer Service Manager role responsible for the BMW & MINI dealers in the South West of England.
From the challenging world of customer service Gary moved into BMW & MINI Aftersales Development and following the successful rollout of a number of BMW AG initiatives he started what was to become the first of his field-based roles as BMW UK Business Development Manager, based in the South West .
As the world of automotive retailing continued to develop and BMW UK applied additional resources to the area of aftersales, Gary transitioned into the new role of BMW UK Regional Aftersales Manager and after a number of enjoyable and successful years in this role, the wealth of experience he had gained, both from a dealer and manufacturer perspective saw him headhunted into the role of Regional Development Manager for an ambitious importer/dealer group located over 9,000 miles away in Jamaica. The varied and challenging role saw Gary working closely with the BMW Regional Office in Mexico, initially co-responsible for the development of BMW & MINI dealers across the Caribbean region, supporting and experiencing best practices in dealers across diverse locations such as Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Barbados, St.Lucia and Suriname.
Success in the Caribbean / Latin American Region led to a short period as Group Aftersales Director for BMW, MINI, Audi, VW, Porsche & KIA before the birth of his first grandson proved too strong a draw and Gary returned to the UK in 2018, immediately joining the MFG Group, delivering outstanding results for MFG in dealers across the UK, Italy and New Zealand.
MFG Group CEO Declan Gaule: “Having worked with Gary in BMW UK, I have first hand knowledge of Gary’s passion for the automotive industry. With over 30 years’ experience, he has helped to develop successful automotive operations across diverse markets. His appointment will ensure that MFG’s proven automotive solutions continue to add value and profitable unit sales to our existing and ever-expanding customer base.
“There are few areas in the industry that Gary has not applied himself to successfully, this desire for success and extensive industry experience will ensure MFG’s continued UK growth is in safe hands. The whole team are greatly looking forward to working with Gary and implementing his ideas and approaches.”
Gary Richardson added: “I am delighted to take on this new role for the MFG Group at such an exciting stage of its development. I’m looking forward to applying my experience gained across many roles in both manufacturers and retailers to secure and enhance MFG’s presence in the UK market, re-engaging with many of my associates from across the UK dealer networks to help them drive tangible, sustainable sales results with equal emphasis on class leading ROI and legacy training.”
